NAUGATUCK – Math was a ball for Maple Hill Elementary School students the night of April 13. Students and their parents participated in the baseball-themed math night, full of math-related games and activities.

‘The purpose is to encourage family math activities, math at home and real world math so that children learn to love math,’ Principal Cherl Kane said.

Kane created games based on baseball to get students interested in math. The 17 stations included concession stand math, baseball glyphs, origami baseball caps, fraction baseball, estimation station and ring a run. The math night was part of a program that culminates in a trip to see the New Britain Rock Cats baseball team.
