*UPDATE – Truck driver Sara-Sanchez now in stable condition at Saint Mary’s Hospital*
NAUGATUCK – A female truck driver was taken to Saint Mary’s hospital with serious leg injuries Thursday morning after a car struck her.

Sarifa Sara-Sanchez, 30, of New Jersey, had just finished a car delivery to J&M Automotive and was standing outside her parked tractor trailer at 8:23 a.m. when Ronald Jennings, 16, of Prospect, heading southbound on New Haven Road (Route 63), hit her and spun out of control, said Lieutenant Robert Harrison.

Sara-Sanchez was listed in critical condition at Saint Mary’s hospital. Jennings appeared uninjured and went home with his mother, Harrison said.

Sun glare was probably a factor in the accident, according to Harrison.

New Haven Road was closed until 1:30 p.m.  between Cross Street and Beacon Valley road as police carried out their investigation.

Members of Occupational Safety Health Administration, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and Department of Transportation were on the scene.

A driver operating the above car crashed into a pedestrian and truck Monday morning.

The accident reconstruction team was using a total station with a laser sensor to pinpoint the location of each piece of evidence including crush damage and skid marks. They will use the data to recreate an animated version of the scene to determine what happened, according to Harrison.
