NAUGATUCK — A home on Salem Street was the site of an armed robbery this afternoon leading to the lockdown of two borough schools and a daycare.

Shortly before 2 p.m., police received a report of an armed robbery in progress at 27 Salem St., a residential home, police said.

Police said a firearm was shown during the robbery, and one person received minor injuries during a struggle inside the home. The person refused medical treatment, police said.

Salem Elementary School, Hillside Intermediate School and the Salem Lutheran Day Care Center were placed on lockdown for about an hour, police said, until the area was searched and cleared.

Police believed the robbery didn’t appear to be a random act.

As of this post, the incident was under investigation and no suspect or suspects had been identified. Police provided no further details.
