BEACON FALLS — The Assessor’s office issued a reminder to all businesses and personal property owners that they are required to file a declaration of taxable property with the office on or before Nov. 1.

Any new business in town must notify the assessor’s office of their proper mailing address or visit the office to pick up the declaration. Failure to file will result in a 25 percent penalty per state statute. All business owners must file a declaration of personal property.

New commercial trucks, truck tractors, and semi-trailers in excess of 55,000 pounds, gross vehicle weight rating, and used exclusively for interstate or intrastate transportation of freight for hire may be exempt if never registered in any state or jurisdiction prior to Aug. 1, 2006.

Applications must be completed and submitted to the office by Nov. 1. Applications are available at the office.
