NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck Public Works Department is kicking off its annual spring street-sweeping program this week.

Crews will begin in the downtown area and will branch out to various locations throughout the borough. It will continue in the Hunter’s Mountain and Andrew Mountain areas, Rubber Avenue and Rubber Avenue Extension and Gunntown Road. Locations where sweeping will occur will be published in advance. Schools will be swept this week, as well.

All residents and merchants are encouraged to sweep their sidewalks into the gutter line in advance of sweeping crews arriving. Sand should not be swept into piles, as the sweeper cannot pick up piles. Any litter, debris or leaves should be separated and disposed of normally. After areas are publicized, residents are encouraged to get their cars off of the street to insure all streets are done to completion. For more information, visit www.naugatuck-ct.gov.
