NAUGATUCK — Firefighters quickly doused a car fire on Ward Street Monday.

Firefighters responded to the fire at about 12 p.m. When they arrived, the passenger side of a 2006 Audi, which was parked in front of 169 Ward St., was engulfed in flames. Firefighters put out the fire in three to five minutes and kept the flames from jumping to another car parked in front of the Audi, Capt. James Seaman said.

Seaman said the Audi was driven for about 30 minutes before the driver parked the car, which shortly after caught fire. No one was injured, he said.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Firefighters closed off Ward Street at Spencer Street while they extinguished the fire and cleaned up gasoline that leaked from the Audi. Officials from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection also responded to the scene.
