NAUGATUCK — The location planned for a new Goodwill Industries donation station has changed.

In November, the Board of Mayor and Burgesses approved a location for the donation station along Water Street on a parcel of land locally known as Parcel B. Last week, Mayor N. Warren “Pete” Hess said the station needs electricity and it will now be located along Elm Street, adjacent to the Naugatuck Event Center.

The trailer will be located next to a utility pole and able to tie into the electricity, Hess said. According to Hess, the donation station will be open once weather permits.

The nonprofit organization’s previous donation station was in the train station parking lot, which the borough owned, at 195 Water St. The drop-off location benefited Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut. The donation station was moved in February 2016 after the borough sold the former train station building and the land.
