NAUGATUCK — The investigation into the Oct. 8 fire at a large industrial building on Spring Street has ended with the cause still undetermined, Fire Chief Ken Hanks said.

The collapse of the roof during the fire at about 1:45 a.m. at 550 Spring St. prevented investigators from pinpointing where the fire started, said Ralph Minervino, the building’s co-owner.

The Hanover Insurance Group has agreed to pay for the damages to the building, Minervino said. Fire officials estimated the day after the fire that damages could total $3 million.
