Admittance to all overnight shelters will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Residents who plan to spend the night are asked to bring pillows and blankets for each person in the family. The borough is asking only those residents most in need seek overnight shelter.

Warming stations are open during daytime hours today at Andrew Avenue School, the Naugatuck Senior Center, the Congregational Church, and the Howard Whittemore Library. Light snacks and beverages will be available free of charge.

Residents can charge cells phones and other personal devices at all facilities and any other borough building that will be open.

Hot showers are also available at City Hill throughout the day and night beginning at 2 p.m. today.

Several roads remain blocked due to downed trees and power lines, the department reported. Borough crews are working with Connecticut Light and Power personnel to clear dangerous road hazards and allow restoration of power efforts to begin.
