PROSPECT — A local gas station manager has received a ticket for possession of illegal fireworks, fire officials said.

Abdullatif Vora, 32, of Fairfield and manager of the Prospect Shell gas station, was released on a promise to appear Sept. 27 at Waterbury Superior Court.

Fire Marshal Keith Griffin said he and a state fire marshal were conducting an inspection of a carnival when the state fire marshal received an anonymous call about an unrelated complaint at the Shell station about 1 p.m. Thursday.

When Griffin and the state marshal arrived at 28 Waterbury Road, they saw illegal fireworks in two boxes, which were confiscated, Griffin said. He would not release any details about the original complaint.

Griffin said in June, he was at the gas station and asked Vora to remove illegal fireworks from the shelf and contact the vendor. The fireworks were on the premises Thursday, he said.
