Letter: Beacon Falls should fight for easement rights

To the editor,

Woodland High is a fine school that makes us all proud both in Beacon Falls and Prospect. I, being a resident of Beacon Falls, would like to give my opinion of this easement dispute. It sounds to me that Beacon Falls is on firm ground. I was not aware that this dispute was going until I read the article in the Oct. 2, 2015 issue of the Citizen’s News. The equestrians’ rights to this easement should be upheld, and I urge our Board of Selectman to fight in court if it comes to that.

I’d like to think that if we had some people using common sense this could be worked out without getting lawyers involved. Ha. Ha. With all due respect to attorney Hess of Naugatuck (candidate for mayor there), the opinion he gave is his own. And we all know when a court case is held: two lawyers, two opinions, and two bills.

I urge everyone on the Region 16 Board of Education from Beacon Falls to please fight for our easement rights or, if not, consider resigning so others may carry on the fight. Any time lawyers get involved we know it gets prolonged and expensive. But we have to do what have to do in order to protect our horse people, men, women, and children. They have the same rights as ball fields, tennis courts, etc. as they all pay taxes.

I’ve had some experience with horses when I was a kid. My father made that possible which I will never forget. So, Beacon Falls regional board members please help our fellow citizens as they pay taxes also.
