NAUGATUCK — Police have charged a 33-year-old Ansonia man who they say fled the scene after crashing a stolen car last year.

Raymond Grullon was arrested on Dec. 18 on an outstanding warrant related to a crash on Oct. 6, 2017 on Prospect Street in Naugatuck. Police charged him with evasion and first-degree larceny.

Police said Grullon was driving a stolen Audi, and had just fled a traffic stop initiated by state police when he crashed the car into an oncoming vehicle as its driver was attempting to make a left turn onto Locust Street.

Police said Grullon fled the scene on foot while the other vehicle’s occupants were laying in the roadway with serious injuries. Both victims were taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury for treatment.

Grullon was held on $130,000 bond after his arrest and remains in custody, according to state judicial records. He has not yet entered a plea and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court again on Wednesday.
