Obituary: Donald R. Miller

NAUGATUCK — Donald R. Miller, loving husband of his soulmate Jocelyn, died Nov. 10, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital.

Don was born Feb. 13, 1935 in Norwalk, son of Myron and Elizabeth (Rockwell) Miller. He was raised in New Canaan and graduated from New Canaan High School. He was also a graduate of RCA Institute in NYC, the University of Connecticut, and Southern Connecticut State University. In the early 1960s, he toured as half of the folk duo “The Berkley Squares.” He was a fifth-grade teacher at Driggs and Carrington Schools in Waterbury. Most recently, he dealt in antiques and created unique lamps at Black Dog Antiques in Ansonia. He was an Army veteran, serving in the Signal Corps in Georgia and Germany.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Don; daughter-in-law , Kristen; grandson Jacob; and granddaughter, Olivia, all of Trumbull; and his sister, Marilou Miller of Stamford. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their
Children and his former wife, Anita, of Southbury.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016 at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet at 6 p.m. Burial will be private in New Canaan.
