SOUTHBURY — Louise J. Lawrence, 90, the widow of David A. Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018 with her loving daughters by her side.

Louise was born on May 6, 1927 in Lowell, Mass., a daughter of the late John and Rose (Joyce) Montague. Louise was a Southbury resident for the past eight years having lived most of her life in Naugatuck, where she retired from Lewis Engineering. Louise was known far and wide for the famous cookies she baked and generously shared.

Louise is survived by her daughters, Joyce Berger and her husband, Robert, of Middlebury and Deborah Lawrence and her husband, Peter Mendelson, of Avon; her grandchildren, David Berger and his wife, Wendy, Joshua Gibbons and Jessica Gibbons; her great-grandchildren, Amelia and Benjamin Berger; her sister, Lorraine Horvath and her husband, Gus, of Madison, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Louise was predeceased by her two brothers and four sisters.

Louise’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital E.D. and Sacred Heart 5; the VITAS Hospice Care Unit and Dr. David Roer for their compassion, support and exceptional care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. John of The Cross Church, 1263 West St., Middlebury. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
