SHELTON — Robyn A. Valinsky, 73, beloved wife of John Valinsky, entered into eternal rest Feb. 17, 2019 at Griffin Hospital.

Robyn was born on Dec. 6, 1945 in Englewood, N.J., a beloved daughter of June (Darley) Shore and the late Charles Kane, and moved to Oxford as a young child. She graduated from Derby High School, Class of ‘63 and was a candy striper at Griffin Hospital. Robyn worked for many years as a medical secretary and transcriptionist in several hospitals, including Griffin Hospital in Derby.

In addition to her husband John Valinsky and her mother June Shore, Robyn is survived by her daughters, June Tema (Paul) and Christine Sullivan; her grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor, Alice, Jared, Dylan, Connor and Gabriella; her brothers, Glen Hunihan (Linda), Tom Hunihan and Lewis Belinsky (Alicia); her sisters, Chris Fredericks (David) and Dorie Poeta (John); and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robyn was the eldest of six children and was like a second mother to her younger siblings.
She was voted “Cutest” in her Derby High School, Class of ‘63 and she married her high school sweetheart, Johnny. She was loving and intelligent, an eloquent writer, loved reading and enjoyed classic romance movies, especially Dr. Zhivago and The Sound of Music. She enjoyed camping with her family in Maine (lobstah!), Cape Cod and Myrtle Beach, making many happy and enduring family memories. She truly cherished her daughters and grandchildren, to whom she was a “June Cleaver” mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful homemaker and took pride in making her home and yard warm and inviting, and made every holiday special for the entire family. Her true goal in life was to support and love her family. She loved, and was loved “to the moon and back.”

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Riverside Community Church, 238 Freeman Road, Oxford. Everyone attending is kindly asked to meet at church.
