Obituary: Shawn Bannon Szczesiul

ENFIELD /WATERBURY — Shawn Bannon Szczesiul, 45, of Enfield, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 30, 2017, in Idaho while on a fishing trip. Shawn was born September 5, 1971, in Waterbury, the son of Marymargaret (Bannon) Szczesiul of Enfield and the late James P. Szczesiul.

Shawn graduated from Fermi High School Class of 1989 and received an associate’s degree from Asnutuck Community College. Shawn was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, but fly fishing was his passion. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots and a member of the Enfield Elks Lodge 2222. Shawn was employed with REC Components in Stafford Springs for over 20 years.

In addition to his mother he is also survived by two brothers, Brian Szczesiul and his wife, Johanna, and Mark Szczesiul and his wife, Amanda, all of Enfield; his beloved nieces and nephews, Devin, Braeden, Addison and Todd; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. In addition to his father Shawn was also predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Stanley Szczesiul and Margaret Patricia Szczesiul and his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Anna Bannon.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Friday, July 7, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. A funeral procession will gather at the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 8 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
