BEACON FALLS — State police charged a 40-year-old Milford man Monday in connection to the robbery of the Liberty Bank branch in town in May.

Police arrested Michael Timothy Alldredge in Waterbury on a warrant, charging him with second-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace.

The robbery occurred at about 1:30 p.m. May 14 when a man, suspected to be Alldredge, walked into the bank at 127 South Main St., demanded money from a teller and fled the scene. After the man left the bank, a K-9 track was conducted while detectives processed the crime scene. Police weren’t able to locate the man immediately after the robbery.

During the investigation, police obtained video surveillance, which was broadcast by local news media. Police said a viewer immediately recognized the man and spoke with detectives.

Police believed Alldredge, of 135 Marino Drive, Milford, would accompany a female friend to a court appearance Monday at Waterbury Superior Court, police said. Police stopped a car with Alldredge in it at about 9:45 a.m. near the court and arrested him.

Alldredge was held on $250,000 surety bond and taken to Bridgeport Correctional Center, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on Tuesday.
