NAUGATUCK — Police are seeking information on two suspects in connection with a credit card skimming incident.

Credit card skimming involves thieves using a device that steals information stored on the magnetic strip of a debit or credit card. The devices are placed where people often use their cards, like at an ATM or a gas pump. Once the thieves have the information, they can make fake cards or online purchases.

The suspects police are looking for are white men, and one appears to have tattoo sleeves on both arms, police said. The men used the victim’s credit card information, which was skimmed, to buy items in Farmington and West Hartford on Dec. 30, 2016, police said. The purchases totaled $287.32, according to police.

As of this week, police said, it was unconfirmed where and when the victim’s credit card was skimmed.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspects is asked to contact Detective Andre Moutela at 203-720-5222, etc. 3132 or amoutela@naugatuckpd.org, or the Naugatuck Police Department’s confidential tip line at 203-720-1010.
