Police-badgeNAUGATUCK — Police are searching for two suspects who fled the scene of an accident involving a stolen truck.

At about 1:30 a.m. Thursday police attempted to stop a black Chevrolet pickup truck, which was driving north on New Haven Road, according to Lt. Bryan Cammarata of the Naugatuck Police Department. The truck was stolen from a house in Bethany, he said.

The driver of the truck fled from officers and crashed a short time later in front of Al’s Hot Dogs at 248 South Main St., he said.

A witness reported to police that two people fled the accident scene on foot into the wood line behind the Mobil gas station next to Al’s Hot Dogs. The only description of the suspects police were able to obtain is that one was wearing “a red clothing item.”

A K-9 officer was called in to track the suspects, but the search yielded no results, according to Cammarata.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Naugatuck Police Department at (203) 729-5221.
