Rebimbas named co-chair of women’s caucus

HARTFORD — State Rep. Rosa Rebimbas (R-70) is co-chairing a new bipartisan Women’s Caucus in the legislature.

There are 54 female lawmakers in the 187-seat General Assembly — nine in the 36-seat Senate and 45 in the 151-seat House.

The Women’s Caucus will be working on issues that affect women such as gender discrimination, economic and financial security, housing, child care, education, and women’s health and safety.

Rebimbas is the ranking House Republican on the Judiciary Committee. She also serves on the Government Administration and Elections Committee and the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee. In addition, Rebimbas is an assistant Republican leader.
In private life, she is a lawyer, and she started her own law office in 2007.

Rebimbas represents the 70th Assembly District. It encompasses three-quarters of the borough of Naugatuck.
