NAUGATUCK — The Board of Education is paying a stipend to its assistant business manager to do extra work.

Bernice Rizk, who earns a $60,000 a year salary, will be paid an additional $800 per month to perform additional tasks for an undetermined amount of time.

The school board unanimously approved the stipend at its meeting last week.
Rizk must complete more work tasks because the borough’s controller and school business manager, Bob Butler, is out indefinitely with an undisclosed medical condition, the school board said.
