NAUGATUCK — Republican Dorothy Neth-Kunin was re-elected as chairwoman of the Board of Education last week.

Neth-Kunin chaired the board the last two years after serving as vice chair for four and half years.

“I am humbled by the confidence they have shown in electing me to a second term as the chair. It has always been my belief that we work together as a team and accomplish so much more as a team,” Neth-Kunin said. “No one person makes decisions. We all understand the gravity of our responsibility and we emerge stronger as we collectively work as one. It helps when you are working with a great administrative team as well. I am excited by the work that has been done and what is on the horizon and look forward to working with all board members and administrative team this term.”

Neth-Kunin said her goals for the next two years are simply to continue the work the board started with the administrative team in place today, provide high-quality instruction to all students while operating in a safe environment and remain focused on our “vision of the graduate.”

Democrat Ethel Grant was elected vice chairwoman and Republican Scott Slauson secretary.

Following last week’s election, there was only one new member of the board, Jeff Litke, who joined the seven incumbent board members for his first meeting Nov. 9.
