SPRING HILL, Fla. — JoAnn Peters, 73, passed away on July 8, 2020, in Vermont with her loving family by her side.

She was born to the late Mario and Irene DeGregorio on Nov. 29, 1946 in Brooklyn, N.Y. JoAnn grew up on Long Island and graduated from Newfield High School in 1964. She received a BA in education in 1968 at the University of Bridgeport, where she met her husband, Craig Peters. They moved to Oxford in 1973. JoAnn started her career as deputy director of training at ABCD in Bridgeport. She then became the director of HRD in Naugatuck, and finished her career as executive director of OIC in Waterbury. JoAnn was a good listener and loved spending time with family and friends. Her interests included watching Naugatuck football, skiing, boating, reading, card playing and Mahjong. JoAnn loved to cook, and put a smile on everyone’s face when she did. She will be sorely missed.

She leaves her husband, Craig, of 52 years; her only child, Robbi Costigan; her son-in-law, Bob; and her grandson, Robert. JoAnn was predeceased by her sister, Alice Rienzo; she leaves her brother, James DeGregorio; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

A celebration of JoAnn’s life will be Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Verdi at Western Hills, 660 Park Road, Waterbury. Everyone attending is required to wear a facial covering and to adhere to social distancing guidelines. There are no calling hours, and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
