Paul C. McKinney

BETHANY — Paul C. McKinney, 82, husband of Judith Ann (Merchant) McKinney, died peacefully on May 15, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born Sept. 7, 1936 in New York, N.Y., the son of the late Charles P. and Mary J. (Epp) McKinney, and had lived in Bethany for the past 48 years. Paul served his community as a member of the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department and as a member of the Bethany Board of Education. He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, and he was a faithful parishioner of St. Vincent Ferrer Church. Paul was a proud partner of Interphase Modular Systems, Inc., where he enjoyed working as a space planner and designer. His hobbies included reading countless books, model airplane building gardening and astronomy.

In addition to Judi, his wife of 53 years, Paul is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth O’Neill (Andy); his sons, Peter C. McKinney (Stacey Petrow), Matthew P. McKinney (April), Christopher P. McKinney (Maria) and Nicholas C. McKinney; his grandchildren, Mitchell, Jacob, Jaie, Rachel and Logan; and his great-granddaughter, Evelyn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is kindly asked to meet at church. Burial, with military honors, will be at a later date. Calling hours are Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Paul’s memory, contributions may be made to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, CT 06770, or to your local V.F.W. Post.
