MIDDLEBURY — Rebecca M. Jackman, 97, the widow of Roy L. Jackman, died peacefully on July 30, 2019 at Apple Rehab in Watertown, surrounded by her family.

Rebecca was born on Oct. 21, 1921 in Williamsport, Pa., a daughter of the late Harold W. and Olive (Willets) Hill, and had lived in Middlebury for most of her life. Rebecca was a retired employee of the footwear division of Uniroyal, Inc. and also formerly worked and volunteered at Middlebury Convalescent Home. For 70 years Rebecca was an active member of Middlebury Congregational Church and was the oldest living member of the church. Her strong faith in God carried her throughout her life. She loved traveling and spending time with family and friends, and she was the last of her generation on both sides of the family.

Rebecca is survived by her children, Nancy Tortora, Lois Mangini and her husband, Donald Mangini, Linda Donovan, Judy Orsini and Roy Jackman Jr. and his wife, Teresa Jackman; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Rebecca was predeceased by her son, Robert Jackman; her brother, Harold Weymouth Hill, and her sisters, Emma Zaccagnini, Betty Duffy and Martha White.

The family would like to thank Dr. Pun, Sara and the entire staff at Apple Rehab in Watertown for their superb care.

Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. at Middlebury Congregational Church, 1242 Whittemore Road, Middlebury. Everyone attending is kindly asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
