Going out on top

Woodland senior boys tennis captain Mike Roulanaitis finished his high school career in style by winning the Naugatuck Valley League boys individual tennis tournament last week.

Giving it everything

Senior tri-captain Tyler Boisvert set the example all season long for the Woodland baseball team. On Saturday, the final day of his high school career, Boisvert left a lasting impression throwing a complete game with five hits and five strikeouts in a 1-0 loss to Brookfield in the Class M qualifying round.

State champion

Naugatuck senior Fejiro Onakpoma finished out his high school career the way any athlete would dream, as a two-time state champion. Onakpoma won the Class L state championship in the long jump and triple jump Tuesday in Middletown.

Throwing with the best of them

Naugatuck junior Erin Schofield has already made a mark for herself as a two-time NVL champion in the javelin. On Tuesday at the Class L state meet, Schofield led the entire way before getting edged out on the final throw and finished runner-up.

Offensive spark

Naugatuck junior Molly Kennedy banged a double and drove in the only two runs of the game for the Greyhounds in a 5-2 loss to Windsor Tuesday in the first round of the Class L state tournament.
