Union City adds registration date
NAUGATUCK — Union City Little League has added one final registration session for the 2015 spring season.
The session is March 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Union City Clubhouse, 165 Morris St.
Boys and girls who live on the east side of Naugatuck and were born between May 1, 2002 and Dec. 31, 2011 are eligible to play baseball. All girls from Naugatuck born between Jan. 1, 1997 and Dec. 31, 2006 are eligible to play softball.

Scholarship game back for second year
NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck High School basketball alumni will take the court again to benefit charity.
The second annual Josh Ruccio Memorial Scholarship Game is March 14 at 6 p.m. at the high school, 543 Rubber Ave.
Ruccio died suddenly Jan. 16, 2012 at the age of 35. Ruccio was a fixture on the Naugatuck sports scene for more than 20 years. He played baseball and basketball at the high school and coached at every level of youth sports in the borough.
The alumni basketball game will feature “old school” alumni, players that played with Ruccio at one time, versus “new school” alumni, players that Ruccio coached or played while he was a coach.
The event will also feature a raffle, a bake sale and concessions. T-shirts, $15 for adults and $10 for children, will also be sold. The halftime show will be players from the Naugatuck YMCA Little Pal basketball program. Tickets are $5 each. The proceeds will benefit the Josh E. Ruccio Scholarship Fund.

Sign-ups open for tournament
PROSPECT — Preparations are under way for the 2nd Annual Karen Depalma 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament.
The tournament is dedicated to the late Karen DePalma, who died in 2012 after an 11-year fight with cancer.
The tournament is March 21 at Woodland Regional High School, 135 Back Rimmon Road, Beacon Falls. It’s open to boys and girls in grades six to 12. Games will be played from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for grades six to eight and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. for the high school-aged players.
The donation is $50 per team and there is a five player maximum per team. The registration deadline is March 13.
