Elks repeat Little Pal perfection
NAUGATUCK — The Elks won the Little Pal championship series, 2-0, over the Exchange Club.
The Elks won game one, 53-27, and game two, 57-29, to win the best-of-three series and complete a 17-0 season. The championship was the second straight title for the Elks and stretched the team’s win streak to 34 games.
“We won every game in the regular season by over ten points,” Elks head coach Dan Sratziski said. “We picked up our effort in the playoffs winning each game by over 25 points.”
Derrick Jagello led the Elks with 18 points in game one. Ian Wilkinson had nine points, Tyler Demousa had eight points and Jay Barth scored six points.
The Exchange was led by Ron Riveria with seven points. Jay Mezzo and Joshua Lastra had four points with Mitch Langlais adding three points.
“The key was our defense shutting down the Exchange leading scorer,” Starziski said. “Jay Mezzo scored 23 points in the semifinal win over Post 17.”
Jagello led the Elks again in game two with 21 points. Jimmy Ayash scored nine points, Mark Oladapo and Tommy Ayash added six points each, Anthony Abate had five points and Tyler Markey had four points.
Riveria led the Exchange in game two with eight points. John Braziel scored five points with Jace Molcyk and Ryan Sutherland adding four points each.

Prospect Fencing Club makes its mark at tournaments
PROSPECT — Members of the Prospect Fencing Club competed in three of four major tournaments hosted by the Connecticut High School Fencing Association.
Rebekah Wallace, of Prospect, competed in Novice Girls Epee at the Novice tournament at Guilford High School Feb 6. Wallace took second place in her category, earning a silver metal.
Fourteen club members competed at the State Individual championship March 5 at Fairfield Ludlow High School.
Tim Brown and Cade Williams, both of Orange, Kadan Lottick, of Woodbridge, Brandon Reilly, of Prospect, Brian Healy and Denver Hopkins, both of Naugatuck, competed in Boys Foil.
Andrew DiSanti, of Prospect, Luke Fenwick, of Beacon Falls and William Myung, of Woodbridge, competed in Boys Epee.
Justine Roy and Madeline Roy, both of Watertown, and Lydia Segal, of Prospect, competed in Girls Foil.
Samantha Lottick, of Woodbury, and Mallory Roy, of Watertown, competed in Girls Epee.
The Boys Foil team of Lottick, Brown and Williams seeded sixth out of eight top teams in Connecticut and moved on to the State Team championship March 12 at North Haven High School where the team won first place.

Legion team holding registration for baseball
PROSPECT — The Prospect-Beacon Falls American Legion baseball team is holding registration next week.
Registration will be held April 13 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the firehouse, 26 New Haven Road. Players from Prospect, Beacon Falls and the Crosby High School area in Waterbury are eligible to play on the 19U team. For more information, call Jeff Clarke at 203-228-0374.
